Born in Mildenhall on 20th February 1918 (Mildenhall Q1-1918 4A:1296), son of Charles and Mary HILLS (née ANDREWS) of Mildenhall.
There is an apparent contradiction of age between his birth registration/PoW card and CWGC(who have 23)

In the 1939 register, at 21 Council Houses, Mildenhall were his father Charles [26-7-1872 a butcher, his mother Mary [15-5-1877] and aunt Amy N [12-7-1878] a childrens nurse. There are 2 closed records.


Douglas William HILLS was captured by the Japanese on 15th February 1942, at the surrender of Singapore, and died on the Thailand-Burma railway. The Japanese have his address as 21 Junction Road, Mildenhall.
